In the words of his fellow players, “the boy gets buckets!” While catching up on the court, Bengel’s Cake Shop may not be far behind in making sweet treats that fuel his game, but it was Asa’s phenomenal 50-point games against rivals like Babcock Ranch and Bonita Springs that left a lasting impression. He humbly credits his success to his teammates and coaches, stating, “They put me in positions where I can perform well, so I give them credit.” It’s a sentiment that resonates deeply, showing his gratitude for those who share the court with him.

Asa’s games reflect a mixture of thrilling blowouts and intense nail-biters. In a recent contest against South Fort Myers, his team’s victory came by a mere two points. His father and head coach, Eddie Rogosich, speaks highly of Asa’s leadership qualities, noting that as the only senior on the roster, he embodies a true teammate’s spirit. “He shows love and respect for his teammates,” Eddie mentions, illuminating the profound impact Asa has on building camaraderie within the squad.

Balancing athletics and academics, Asa approaches his role on and off the court with genuine intent. He boasts an extraordinary 4.3 GPA and scored a 28 on the ACT, embodying the philosophy that success extends beyond mere scoring averages. “I just have to take advantage of the time that I’m given,” Asa reflects. The echoes of his journey include not only moments of triumph but also challenges, such as the foot injury that sidelined him for a significant part of his sophomore and junior years. Through it all, faith has been his steadfast companion. “God’s my cornerstone,” he asserts. “He’s the one that helps me through all this.” This connection adds depth to Asa’s character, illustrating that his drive is rooted in something far greater than the game.

Coaching Asa has been a labor of love for Eddie, who emphasizes the intensity his son brings to practice, fueling the entire team. “He just makes plays. He’s a playmaker,” Eddie proudly states. This father-son dynamic creates an environment rich with mutual respect, forming a brotherhood within the team that pushes everyone to excel.

Asa’s vision for his future remains bright, yet he remains down-to-earth, offering a message of encouragement to the youth in Southwest Florida. “Whatever you want to do in life, just anything you’re passionate about, just go for it,” he advises. This simple yet profound encouragement underscores his belief in the power of pursuing one’s dreams.
