The sheriff’s office confirmed that these eight individuals, hailing from Honduras, were indeed in the United States without legal status. “We were very surprised because this is a quiet neighborhood we like to keep it quiet and low-key,” said Michelle Callis, a concerned neighbor.
The atmosphere on Little Falls Avenue shifted dramatically when the deputies arrived in search of Jorge Pineda, who was wanted for resisting arrest with violence against a border patrol agent. The situation escalated when Pineda allegedly attacked the deputies, while the others in the home scrambled to either hide or escape.
“I got the ring notification and looked at all of our cameras,” Callis recalled, her heart racing as she anxiously reached out to a neighbor. “What’s going on?”
According to the probable cause affidavit, the home belongs to a landlord who rents it out. The individuals arrested had been hired by prospective tenants to do some work around the property but had no permission to move in. Ultimately, the authorities apprehended all eight Honduran nationals on charges of trespassing and other offenses.

Neighbors communicated their concerns with FOX 4, revealing that this wasn’t the first instance of trouble associated with the property. “I think he needs to scan his renters a lot better,” Callis lamented. “We want to be able to feel safe.” In a neighborhood where routine jogs and peaceful strolls are commonplace, the unexpected incident cast a shadow over their sense of security.
Interestingly, Port Charlotte is located in an area known for its rich natural beauty and vibrant community, making such disruptions even more jarring for residents. As they grapple with rising tensions and fear, they find themselves longing for a return to their once tranquil existence.
