Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will not intersect at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, despite their simultaneous appearances at the illustrious occasion.
Both actors showcase their latest works—Jolie’s film “Maria” and Pitt’s project “Wolfs”—at this prestigious Italian event. However, amidst their ongoing battle regarding the ownership of their vineyard and finalizing the details of their divorce, festival organizers have crafted a plan to keep them apart.
Artistic director Alberto Barbera shared with Vanity Fair, “Angelina will be on the first day, on Thursday the 29, and she will leave right after with [‘Maria’ director] Pablo Larraín to go to Telluride. So Brad will arrive only on Saturday, to Venice. There is no way that they can cross each other at the Lido.”
On Thursday, eyes were drawn to Jolie in Venice, accompanied by her “Maria” co-star Pierfrancesco Favino. Dressed in a classic black dress, she exuded elegance and sophistication. Another striking look was her brown gown with flowing sleeves, complementing her flowing hair styled down, enhancing her ethereal presence at the festival.

The ongoing divorce proceedings and fierce disputes over Château Miraval, their shared French winery, keep Pitt and Jolie separated. Their relationship, once marked by love and collaboration, has devolved into a public spectacle of disagreements and legal battles since their separation in 2016.
Château Miraval has captured media attention since 2022 when Pitt claimed that Jolie’s attempt to sell the winery violated their initial agreement. Acquired in 2008, this vineyard once symbolized their unity, where they celebrated their marriage amidst its beautiful vines a decade ago.
In 2021, Jolie attempted to transfer her ownership of the company Nouvel to Tenute Del Mondo, a unit of the Stoli Group, which incited further conflict. Pitt has fought the sale, alleging it breached a divorce contract. Meanwhile, Jolie’s counsel characterized Pitt’s actions as an ongoing “vindictive campaign” aimed at seizing control of their joint legacy.
The most recent chapter of their saga includes Jolie’s request for documents related to a 2016 incident on a plane, where allegations of a physical confrontation emerged—an event that hastened her decision to file for divorce shortly thereafter.
“We are not at all surprised Mr. Pitt is afraid to turn over the documents demonstrating these facts,” stated Jolie’s attorney. They emphasized that while Jolie seeks closure and healing for their family, continued legal disputes prevent progress.
This situation, originally centered on business matters, has sadly evolved into a deeply personal struggle that has stirred emotions and extended proceedings. Their narrative brings to mind a poignant reminder: even the brightest stars can find themselves caught in the shadows of their past decisions and current realities.
