According to Hilton’s annual trends report, the focus has transitioned away from 2024’s theme, “Year of the Great Recharge,” with travelers now eagerly seeking thrilling experiences.
“After the overwhelming period of pandemic travel, and the subsequent time devoted to recharge, there’s a rekindled passion for exploration,” states a spokesperson for the global hospitality pioneer. “Travelers are aiming to mingle relaxation with exhilarating adventures, maximizing both their time and financial commitments.”
Through engaging insights from 13,000 travelers across 13 countries, along with perspectives from over 4,100 Hilton team members and several travel experts, Hilton’s report offers a fascinating glimpse into the evolving desires of modern tourists.
Within the “Go Getaways” segment, research indicates that 70% of global travelers are choosing active pursuits during their vacations. Meanwhile, 25% are searching for unique experiences, and 20% lean toward outdoor activities in 2025.
“The 2024 traveler focused on relaxation, and while that sentiment still holds, the 2025 traveler yearns to elevate their journeys,” remarked the spokesperson.
A captivating trend also revealed a notable increase in multi-generational travels. Approximately 37% of vacationers plan trips with their parents, while another 40% invite extended family members.
“The planner of these multi-generational adventures, often the family matriarch, actively seeks distinctive, once-in-a-lifetime destinations to ensure a memorable experience for all,” the report noted with insight.
One revealing statistic showed that “50% of global travelers secure dining reservations prior to booking flights, highlighting the growing importance of culinary experiences in travel planning.”
Interestingly, Hilton has also identified a new travel cohort defined as “frollegues.” This term describes groups of colleagues who choose to travel together, adding an intriguing dynamic to business relationships.
