President-elect Trump will attend the Notre Dame Cathedral celebration in Paris this weekend, marking a monumental moment five years after the iconic structure suffered extensive fire damage.
Trump shared the news of his Dec. 7 visit through social media posts.
“It is an honor to announce that I will be traveling to Paris, France, on Saturday to witness the re-opening of the Magnificent and Historic Notre Dame Cathedral, which has been fully restored after a devastating fire five years ago,” he expressed on Truth Social. “President Emmanuel Macron has done a wonderful job ensuring that Notre Dame has been restored to its full level of glory, and even more so.”
“It will be a very special day for all!” he emphasized.
The exclusive ceremonies planned for Saturday and Sunday are anticipated to draw around 50 heads of state and government officials. Sources confirmed that aides to Trump engaged in discussions with the office of French President Macron regarding the visit.
In total, nearly $1 billion was raised to rebuild this beloved landmark after the catastrophic fire that engulfed it in April 2019. Presently, about $148 million of that funding remains unutilized.
The inferno led to the collapse of the cathedral’s roof and parts of its exterior while severely damaging the interior.
