Join the Movement: Help Habitat for Humanity Build a Better Tomorrow!

Habitat for Humanity seeks donors to tackle the affordable housing crisis that grips Collier County, one of the priciest areas in Southwest Florida. This organization strives to transform the notion of home-ownership from a distant dream into a reachable reality for many families.

Maria and Sandra Franco, a devoted mother-daughter duo, recall the nights spent in their previous home, where unwanted guests, like roaches, frequently interrupted their rest. The memory lingers in their minds, reminding them of a time marked by discomfort and uncertainty.

“When we first settled in the United States, our first home was a dilapidated one-car garage. It was a haven for pests,” Maria shared, her voice tinged with nostalgia and a hint of resilience.

Now, they stand on the brink of a new chapter, pursuing home-ownership through Habitat for Humanity. This organization not only provides houses but also equips families with essential skills, such as budgeting and understanding insurance, a necessary part of qualifying for a home.

“For my daughter to have a house for us, it’s a dream she has cherished her whole life,” Maria reflected, filled with hope and determination.

Lisa Lefkow, CEO of Habitat for Humanity, emphasizes the importance of making housing affordable. She shares that current monthly payments for homes generally range from $1,000 to $1,400, reflecting the organization’s commitment to economic accessibility.

In their journey, they meet another hopeful home buyer, Eberly Ramirez, who is eager to leave her cramped living conditions behind.

Eberly Ramirez shares her success story with Collier County's Community Correspondent, Dominga Murray

“This is my dream come true. It holds great significance for me, especially because I have my kids to think about. With this house, I can finally rest easy,” she expressed, a mixture of relief and joy filling her heart.

For the community, Habitat for Humanity shines as a beacon of hope. Currently, generous donors are stepping up, offering to match contributions up to $2 million until February 3. Those touched by these stories can contribute to the Give to the Max Campaign, helping families like the Francos and Ramirezs realize the dream of home-ownership.
