Sales evoke a tapestry of mixed emotions for shoppers devoted to the thrill of Black Friday in southwest Florida. The rush of excitement blends seamlessly with a thread of disappointment for many, a reality observed at the Miromar Outlets in Estero.
Fox4 community correspondent, Miyoshi Price, engaged shoppers at this buzzing hub, discovering that not all were eager to brave the infamous Black Friday queues merely to score deals.

“They’re not that great,” voiced Julie Golden with a hint of skepticism. “I expected more doorbusters, but that’s okay since we’re at an outlet mall.” Her statement encapsulated a sentiment that echoes through the vibrant corridors of Miromar.
That Friday, crowds seamlessly flowed through the outlets, each shopper on their mission, some equipped with meticulously crafted lists for holiday gifts, while others embraced spontaneity. Amidst the chaos, Judi expressed her enjoyment, “My shopping is wonderful. I’m walking up and down looking at all the doors, and they’re beautiful.” Her enthusiasm contagious, she noted the throngs of anxious shoppers, all eagerly awaiting their chance to snag a deal.
Judi’s granddaughter exemplified the fervor of Black Friday. After standing in a long line for a couple of hours, she managed to make her coveted Lululemon purchases, while Judi explored multiple stores, excited by the discounts at Old Navy.
Rising with the sun, Islarose Wheeler landed at the Miromar Outlets at the crack of dawn, eagerly ready for the day ahead.
“We waited in line for like an hour, and I picked up some stuff at Lululemon,” Wheeler explained, eager to fill her cart. As the minutes slipped by, the ambiance shifted. The crowd swelled, transforming the once quiet space into a festival of chatter and excitement, with some shoppers even coolly bringing suitcases to carry their treasures.
By midday, practically all parking spaces vanished. Cars lined the edges of the lot, and some were parked illegally on the grassy medians, a testament to the event’s magnetism.
The National Retail Federation reported that 76.2 million eager shoppers planned to get their fill of Black Friday deals. Prompted by Price, one customer, Elaine Dobra, shared her perspective: “Why stand in line when you could shop online?” She quipped, “Why not do both?”
Dobra and her friends have cultivated a tradition out of this shopping spree, reflecting a social ritual that adds warmth to the hectic environment. “It’s just so much more fun to go Black Friday shopping in person,” another customer emphasized, highlighting the sense of community and shared experience often absent in online shopping.
