Fire chief of Cape Coral pushes for new training facility

CAPE CORAL FL – Cape Coral Fire Department has begun construction of a training center.

It is situated near Cape Coral’s South Water Plant. Chief Ryan Lamb said that potential sites will be in an area with higher water pressure than those located near the South Water Plant.

Lamb stated, “We must be able practice in order to be prepared when we are called upon to serve.”

A contract was recently signed with an architect by the city council. A vote will take place on Wednesday regarding the endangered site manager in the initial phase.

Lamb stated, “This training center will enable us to conduct live-fire revolutions and do a range of other things that our firefighters have been well trained to do in order to protect our firefighters as well as our community.”

Firefighters can be found on the roads for as long as an hour in order to practice their skills with neighboring fire departments.

Lamb claims that firefighters are able to earn more training hours if they live within the city limits. According to Lamb, firefighters can be saved faster if they have better training.

Lamb stated, “We want them to be well-trained and ready for the worst,”

Just over $69,000 would be spent on the initial phase.
