Customers were left in shock after a car collided with a renowned Italian restaurant in Georgia, sending diners into panic.
Lisa Myers, the owner of Fresca Trattoria, shared her disbelief with FOX 5 Atlanta, revealing the crash occurred around 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Situated in the heart of Stone Mountain, Georgia, this beloved establishment, known for its delicious brunch offerings, experienced a terrifying moment when a car barreled through while patrons enjoyed their meals.
Jarring surveillance footage captured the scene as startled customers leaped from their seats, narrowly escaping disaster just moments before the vehicle crashed into their table. The intensity of the moment froze time, an experience blending their routine joy of dining with a sudden threat to their safety.
A different camera angle documented the car smashing into the restaurant’s glass entrance, plowing over vacant tables and chairs. It was a surreal scene that transformed a peaceful dining location into a chaotic disaster zone.
Fortunately, there were no fatalities or serious injuries reported. However, Myers expressed her relief that her daughter, who works as a waitress, narrowly avoided being in the path of the car. “She was standing right there where the car hit just a few minutes earlier,” Myers remarked, embracing the gratitude of having her daughter safe amidst the chaos.
The driver, who spoke to Myers, revealed that unexpected brake failure led to the accident when her gas pedal became jammed, casting a cloud of uncertainty over the incident.
In a humorous yet poignant twist, Myers quipped about the unfortunate event, reassuring customers that their restaurant might be the newest “drive-thru” on the block. “We would appreciate the support,” she added, addressing the uncertain future regarding insurance coverage for the damages.
On the evening after the crash, Fresca Trattoria took to social media, expressing heartfelt gratitude to their local community for their unwavering support during this challenging time. They posted a message reflecting on the incident, stating, “The windows are boarded up, and the sky is cloudy, but we are choosing to see the silver lining. Nobody was hurt, and the kindness from the community has made us feel incredibly blessed to be in Stone Mountain / Lilburn.”
