FORT MYERS, Fla. – A Dunbar High School sophomore has become the latest Microsoft World Champion for Powerpoint 2019, according to the School District of Lee County.

Andrew Chuang Saladin has become the third student at Dunbar high to earn the title behind Kevin Dimaculangan who was the 2018 Microsoft Office Specialist World Champion for Excel 2016 and Tyler Millis won the 2014 Microsoft World Championship for PowerPoint 2007, school officials said.

“It was simply, overwhelming,” Saladin said. “I could not have imagined representing my school at this level a year ago when I first learned about the program.”

Saladin took the Florida State Championship in May after earning a perfect score before being named a National Champion in June. Now the high school student has been named a world champion and will take home a prize of $7,000, a Microsoft Surface Pro, a trophy, a Medal of Achievement and an official World Champion Certificate.

Another Dunbar High School student Carson Mulvey placed second at the World Championships in PowerPoint 2016 and won $3,500, an Xbox One, and a medal.

According to the school district, Saladin and Mulvey were the only students in the US to win or place at the 2021 Microsoft Office Specialist World Online Championship with no other American finishing in the top 10.

The 2021 competition started with more than 200,000 contestants from all over the world, LCSD reports.
