HGTV star Christina Haack openly acknowledges the challenges of moving forward after three failed marriages.
In a heartfelt discussion with her first ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, Haack expressed her regret over rushing into relationships as a coping mechanism for emotional turmoil. “I feel like I try to hide and act like I’m not affected but then I just do more stupid things to try to make myself feel better,” she confided during the premiere of their new show, “The Flip Off,” which also features El Moussa’s current wife, Heather Rae El Moussa.
“I just keep doing it and getting into things too fast that I know aren’t right,” she admitted, reflecting on her desire to fill the void left by previous relationships.
Her turbulent journey began with her marriage to El Moussa, which ended in divorce in 2018 after two years of separation filled with personal and health struggles, including El Moussa’s battle with cancer. Not long after their split, Haack entered a whirlwind romance with television personality Ant Anstead, whom she married and later divorced in 2021 following the arrival of their son. This brief union was marred by public accusations, with Anstead suggesting Haack exploited their child’s image online.
More recently, she found herself navigating the complexities of her third marriage to realtor Josh Hall. Although this union was celebrated with a romantic wedding in 2021 and a promise of stability, it took an unexpected turn. Haack shared that her children, Taylor and Brayden, voiced their discomfort with Hall, compelling her to seek a new path. “The kids literally asked me to leave,” she recalled, noting their concerns for her well-being.
“I never wanted to get divorced,” she reflected, revealing a deeper longing for connection and a fear of being alone, especially as the only one in her family with this experience. She noted that her desire to return to a relationship had inadvertently led her into unpredictable waters, echoing her previous experiences.
Currently, her ex-husband Hall has expressed disinterest in mediation as they engage in contentious court proceedings, further complicating the already challenging landscape of her personal life. Haack didn’t shy away from critiquing her ex’s lack of flipping experience, drawing attention to the thematic undercurrent of their reality show: remodeling homes but seemingly struggling to rebuild her own.
Amidst this chaotic backdrop, Haack has found the warmth of new companionship with businessman Christopher Larocca. Their relationship is still in its early days, providing a glimmer of hope in her journey of self-discovery and healing.
New episodes of “The Flip Off” air on Wednesdays at 8 p.m., serving as a canvas for both personal revelation and home renovation.
