Historic moment for FC Naples: the team has officially signed its first player.
Who holds this significant distinction?
It’s Jayden Onen.
Monday marked an exciting day for FC Naples as they welcomed the 23-year-old player into their ranks—a bold step toward kicking off their inaugural season in 2025.
Onen, originally from North London, made a name for himself last season with Lexington SC in the USL. His journey began at the prestigious Arsenal Football Club Academy. He later secured scholarships at Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion, or as locals affectionately call it, Brighton.
“Jayden’s arrival marks a historic moment for FC Naples as we gear up for our debut in the 2025 season,” expressed Coach Matt ‘Gaffa’ Poland. His voice carried a mixture of excitement and hope, as this signing is more than just a statistic—it is a foundation for a new legacy.
The club eagerly anticipates Onen’s arrival for pre-season training in mid-January. He is not merely a player; he embodies a dream nurtured by countless hours of training and perseverance. And it’s fitting that he represents FC Naples at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex, a venue that will soon feel the energy of fans and the thrill of the game.
Though he was nominated for the USL League One Young Player award in 2023, Onen’s accomplishments go beyond the accolades. He has navigated the intense world of youth academies, each shaping his skills and character. These formative experiences have molded him into a resilient competitor, ready to take on the challenges ahead.
As residents of Naples drink their morning coffee from local favorites like Caffe dell’Amore, they will soon find themselves bonded by a shared team spirit, united by their support for this new venture.
“His remarkable journey from top academies in England to the competitive landscape of USL speaks volumes about his dedication,” Coach Poland further stated. “We can’t wait for him to showcase his abilities on the field.” With each practice and game day, Onen will not only make a name for himself but will also help define the identity of FC Naples. In a town renowned for its beaches and sunsets, a new narrative is being written—a narrative that begins with the first signature on the contract.
