Marco Island is closing city-run camps after campers test positive for COVID-19



Marco Island bosses apologize to the community for their knowledge of early registration of vaccines


The city of Marco Island announced Thursday that it will temporarily close its camps after the Parks and Recreation Department recently reported five positive cases of COVID-19 in campers.

According to the city’s press release, Mackle Park will be closed Friday through Sunday and will be open to the public again on Monday. During the closure, the facility will be thoroughly cleaned.

The city said it is following CDC guidelines and the camp will be closed from July 23 to July 30. The camp will reopen on August 2nd.

Parks and Recreational Facilities staff and camp counselors will follow Marco Island’s CDC guidelines and COVID-19 protocols during this period.
