Mauricio Umansky gives a health update after a skiing accident that led to emergency surgery.
The reality TV star has shared the latest on his condition with his 800,000 social media followers, following a significant injury sustained while skiing in Aspen.
“Thank you to everyone who has reached out,” Umansky expressed through a heartfelt statement alongside a photo of his skis. “I have felt so much love and support.”
“I had surgery on my clavicle; it was a clean break that required a metal plate and 12 screws,” he revealed, as the star of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”.
Despite the nature of his injury, Umansky remains optimistic about a quick recovery, crediting his helmet for mitigating more severe consequences during the skiing accident.
“I expect a speedy recovery,” he wrote. “The doctors and nurses at Aspen Valley Hospital are truly exceptional.”
“I was wearing a helmet, and that for sure saved me,” he reflected, closing his statement with gratitude.
Umansky underwent surgery on February 14. The beloved TV personality, still married to Kyle Richards, was photographed being assisted by ski patrol through snowy terrain, cradling his arm in a sling.
“I feel so blessed to be cared for by such amazing humans. Ski patrol, paramedics, Aspen Hospital, you’re all the best. Broken clavicle,” he documented on his Instagram Story, sharing a vulnerable moment as he lay in a hospital bed with a medical tube in his nose.
In a subsequent post, he shared an X-ray image of his injury, contrasting the starkness of reality with a touch of hope.
“Let’s get this surgery done so I can heal. Play hard; sometimes you get hurt. But the care here has been incredible,” he said, reinforcing the importance of safety while engaging in thrilling sports.
Details surrounding the skiing mishap, however, remain shrouded in uncertainty.
Everybody faces unexpected bumps in life’s snowy slopes. For Umansky, this incident was a reminder of both fragility and resilience. Accidents can happen in an instant, reminding one of the gifts of health and the importance of protective gear in active sports. Aspen, known not only for its stunning landscapes but also for its vibrant ski culture, plays host to both thrill-seekers and safety-conscious individuals alike. Overall, Mauricio’s experience serves as a poignant lesson that, even while we pursue adventure, prioritizing safety can make all the difference.
