Residents blocked from homes after semi-truck takes down power pole in Golden Gate Estates

GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. — A semi-truck took down a power pole on 11th Street Southwest in Golden Gate Estates on Wednesday while trying to back out of a driveway, blocking residents from getting to their homes.

Greater Naples Fire crews and Collier County deputies responded to the scene around 11:40 a.m. after the semi-truck caught onto power lines, knocking down the power pole and transformer.

According to FPL, about 60 customers are without power as a result of the incident. FPL crews are on scene and working to restore power to the area.

Residents are not being allowed access to their homes as crews work to clear the scene.

The driver of the truck was not injured in the incident.
