Veterans Day 2021: Events in Fort Myers (Naples, Cape Coral and Bonita),

The city of Cape Coral hosted its annual Veteran's Day parade in 2019 to honor American Heroes and pay tribute to those who lost their lives, those who served honorably and those who are still proudly serving.

Veterans Day is Thursday, Nov. 11, and many fundraisers, concerts, ceremonies and other events are scheduled for the holiday. These are just a few of the many ways that you can honor and celebrate our U.S. Military Veterans throughout the week:

WEDNESDAY TO MONDAY, NOVEMBER 10-15

Vietnam Memorial Wall Travel Guide: A traveling,three-fifths-scale replica of the Washington, D.C., Vietnam Memorial visits NaplesChurch. You can view the nearly 300 foot-long wall from Wednesday, November 15 through Monday, November 15. It is free. Free. The wall will be transported to the church by an escort starting at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, from Bonita Grande Publix. It will continue along Livingston Road South and Immokalee Road. Thursday, November 11

Fort Myers Veterans Day Parade: The Fort Myers Boat Show is downtown, so the parade moves this year to the Edison Mall parking area. The parade starts at 10 am on Thursday, November 11, at the old Sears Building. Next, the parade will travel south towards J.C. Penney before continuing around the remainder of the parking lot. Cape Coral Veterans Day Parade: The city’s Parks and Recreation Department organizes this community parade with the support of other local volunteers. The event starts at 11:00 a.m. on Nov. 11 in Cape Coral. It then travels west down Cape Coral Parkway, from Cape Coral Street to Chester Street. All are welcome. Collier County Veterans Day Ceremony: This ceremony includes music by the Pine Ridge Middle School Symphonic Band, a drill team demonstration by Barron Collier High’s JROTC, an invocation and address by Lt. Col. Chris Walters (a 25-year Marine Corps veteran with multiple Middle East deployments), the ringing of 21 bells for the “Bells of Peace”The singer Steve Smith, a flyover in an L4/J3 1945 Piper L4/J3 with U.S. Air Force Maj. Jessica StearnsAnd the dedication of an everlasting memorial. “Missing Man Chair”, a memorial dedicated to MIAs and POWs who haven’t made it home. Thursday, November 11, at 9:15 a.m. No charge. Bonita Veterans Day Celebration: Bonita Springs organizes its annual Veterans Day event. This includes music tributes, a 21 gun salute, posting of the colors, and guest speaker James C. McCloughan. James C. McCloughan was a combat medic with the U.S Army, and has received the Medal of Honor as well the Bronze Star Medal, and the Purple Heart. Wednesday, November 11, 11:11 a.m. All are welcome. Midpoint Madness Veteran’s Day – 5K This annual 5K will feature hundreds of walkers and runners. The bridge will remain closed between 6-9 p.m. Royal Palm Square is the finishing point of this race, with awards and refreshments. Fort Myers YMCA will receive all proceeds. Edison Estates Veterans get free admission to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates on Thursday, Nov. 11, including a self-guided tour of the historic homes, gardens, laboratory and museum. From 11 am to 1 pm, a five-piece brass group from Brass Music Elements will perform.  Museum hours are 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. The regular admission cost is between $15 and $25. Power of gratitude drive-through lunch:Gulf Coast Village will celebrate veterans and active duty military by providing a free meal to all past and current military personnel. From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Thursday November 11. All are welcome. Gulf Coast Village, 1333 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13

“Salute to American Veterans”This is: The concert will feature patriotic and popular music performed by Lindsey Graham. Food trucks, entertainment for children and a 21-gun salute are all included. SUNDAY NOVEMBER 14,

Lee County Community BandThe show features 60 members of the band performing patriotic music from American composers, as well salutes to veterans and service personnel. 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14. Better a Veteran Benefit: Roadhouse Atlanta Biker Band will perform at a patriotic fundraising event “biker comedy hypnotist”Gary Michaels, raffles prizes and vendors. A military vehicle display. The national anthem is at noon. This event benefits The Disabled American Veterans Charity Organization and Invest in America’s Veterans Foundation.
