An abandoned luxury hotel in Florida will finally reopen after 17 years, breathing new life into the storied Palm House of Palm Beach.
During its slumber since 2007, dreams of opulence lingered around the elegant structure, with L+R Iconic Luxury Hotels stepping in to rejuvenate the charm, acquiring the property in 2019. Thus began a meticulous, three-year journey to restore its illustrious past.
Set to resume operations in November, the Palm House emerges like a phoenix, ready to reclaim its status as a centerpiece of luxury.
“The L+R team turned an abandoned shell into a vibrant reality,” expressed Jaycock, highlighting the extensive collaboration required to transform this beloved Palm Beach landmark. It feels as if the hotel has awakened, eager to share tales of its preservation and rebirth.
Radiating a sense of “relaxed exclusivity and discretion,” the Palm House was carefully designed to echo the essence of a classic restored home, an inviting sanctuary for weary travelers.
Architectural treasures such as the signature coral facade, intricately carved cypress arbors, and elegant limestone arches stand testament to the commitment to honor the hotel’s history. Jaycock notes, “Our design embraces these historic elements while reimagining the iconic pink and green hues of vintage Palm Beach, resulting in a hotel that is fresh, bright, bold, and utterly inviting.”
Curiously, Palm Beach has long been recognized as a haven for the wealthy, brimming with tales of opulence and glamour. The area welcomed 5.19 million visitors between January and June of this year alone, marking an impressive increase from past years, according to Discover The Palm Beaches—a local travel resource.
“A prestigious reputation attracts affluent visitors, enabling us to introduce this ethos to the U.S. market,” Macedo shared. With winter months drawing crowds to Florida, Palm Beach takes center stage as an idyllic escape.
In 2022, over a million visitors from the U.K. made their way to Florida, showcasing the allure of this enchanting state. Every corner of Palm Beach seems to whisper stories of grandeur, as the new Palm House beckons with rates beginning at $1,289 during its peak season, lowering to $499 in off-peak.
The reopening of the Palm House not only reinstates a symbol of luxury but also evokes a deep emotional resonance for those familiar with its past. As the doors swing open, one can imagine the laughter, the conversations, and the memories etched into its walls, awaiting new stories to unfold.
