The completion of the 82,640-square-foot Crescent B Commons shopping center last fall brought the convenience of a Publix grocery story, restaurants and professional services to residents in Babcock Ranch and the area.

Babcock Ranch has sold more than 2,000 homes and is on pace for another record-setting year. Recognized as the country’s 14th fastest-selling master-planned community in 2021 by RCLCO Real Estate Advisors, the town reported 714 homes sold in 2021.

“This is a significant milestone from a development perspective and for the 2,000 families who were looking for a better way of life and found it at Babcock Ranch,” said Syd Kitson, chairman and CEO of Kitson & Partners which is developing America’s first solar-powered town. “They understand the vision and recognized Babcock Ranch as an authentic hometown that emphasizes people, community and a healthy lifestyle.”

Created with respect for the natural environment and the philosophy that smart growth and sustainability work hand in hand, half of Babcock Ranch’s footprint is set aside as greenways, parks and expansive lakes, providing recreation and scenic backdrops for homes and the Founder’s Square downtown district.

Residents Lindsay and Justin Graham saw the vision during their first visit.

“As soon as we drove over the bridge, we knew we were home,” said Lindsay. “It just spoke to us. We saw what it was going to be and wanted to be part of it.”

Encompassing 18,000-acres, Babcock Ranch is planned for 19,500 residences and 6,000,000 square feet of commercial space. Construction activity continues to accelerate to meet demands with new homes, neighborhoods, amenities and facilities introducing the next phase of the town’s development.

The completion of the 82,640-square-foot Crescent B Commons shopping center last fall brought the convenience of a Publix grocery story, restaurants and professional services to residents, with more businesses opening in the coming months.

Also under construction are the state-of-the-art Babcock High School, planned to open for the 2022-23 school year, and a one-story field house which will serve as an emergency shelter and a recreation center for school and community activities.

“Providing shopping, education and recreation close to home is important to the Babcock vision as a vibrant, sustainable community filled with possibilities,” said Kitson.

Named Master Planned Community of the Year by the Lee Building Industry Association for a second consecutive year in 2021, Babcock Ranch offers homes from AR Homes by Arthur Rutenberg, Divco Custom Homes, Florida Lifestyle Homes, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Pulte Homes and WCI. Additional neighborhoods by D.R. Horton and Toll Brothers are coming soon.

Babcock Ranch homebuilders offer more than 50 home designs ranging from 1,120 to more than 4,000 square feet. Homes appeal to young millennials, families, empty nesters and retirees, with prices ranging from the $200,000s to over $1.5 million. Built to Florida Green Building Coalition standards, homes emphasize energy and water conservation and have a full gig of fiber-optic connectivity.

Babcock Ranch also recently introduced its newest neighborhood – Innovation Way – serving as a testing ground and living laboratory of seven showcase homes featuring three national homebuilders. Using cutting-edge technology, new materials and construction practices to create the most energy-efficient, water-conserving and healthiest homes on the market, Lennar, Pulte Homes and D.R. Horton are exploring the possibilities for a new wave of homebuilding solutions in Innovation Way. Florida Power & Light Company will oversee analysis and collection of energy efficiency data throughout the testing period.
