NAPLES, Fla. — The body of a swimmer who went missing was found in Naples.

Matthew Britton’s body was found just north of Gordon’s Pass around 9 a.m. by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office Marine Bureau.

His body was found submerged, about 100-150 feet offshore from the 3900 block of Gordon Drive, which is about two miles from where he went missing.

Britton, 38, from Georgia, was last seen swimming on Saturday afternoon when witnesses said he didn’t come back up out of the water.

Several fire departments and law enforcement agencies joined together to search for Britton. His body was taken to the medical examiner’s office for further investigation.

Officials used boats, divers and air assets to assist in the search.
