During the recent OTAs, I had a chance to catch up with Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ wide receiver Chris Godwin to learn more about his health and thoughts on the team’s quarterbacks. Godwin, who battled injuries last season, expressed that he is feeling great and excited to be back on the field. He also shared his impressions of working with Tom Brady and the team’s other quarterbacks, noting their impressive leadership and work ethic. As the season approaches, Godwin is eager to play his part in helping the Bucs defend their Super Bowl title.

Chris Godwin Talks Health and Quarterbacks at Bucs OTAs

As the NFL world gears up for the 2021-22 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are working hard to defend their Super Bowl title. Wide receiver Chris Godwin has been an integral part of the team’s success, and he recently spoke about his health and the Bucs’ quarterbacks during OTAs.

A Fresh Start

Godwin was limited to 12 games last season due to injuries, one of which being a broken finger. Despite the setbacks, he still managed to rack up 840 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, proving his worth as a top talent in the league. Now, with a fresh start and a clean bill of health, Godwin is ready to take on the new season.

“I feel good,” Godwin said during a recent press conference. “I’m back healthy, 100% ready to go. I’m excited, man. It feels good to be back with the guys, back in the building, and just getting to work.”

Quarterback Situation

One of the biggest storylines of the Bucs’ offseason has been the quarterback situation. While last year’s starter Tom Brady is still in the picture, backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert was re-signed, and the team also drafted Kyle Trask in the second round of the draft.

Godwin expressed his faith in all of the quarterbacks on the roster, including Trask, who he called a “great dude” and a “hard worker.”

“We’ve got a really good group of quarterbacks,” said Godwin. “Tom’s obviously the best to ever do it, and Blaine’s a seasoned veteran. And then we drafted Kyle, who’s just a really good young talent. So it’s going to be a fun competition to watch, and I’m excited to see it play out.”

Championship Mentality

Godwin’s focus, as well as the rest of the team’s, is on repeating as Super Bowl champions. He acknowledged that the Bucs have a target on their back this season, but he’s confident in their ability to handle the pressure.

“We know we’re going to get everybody’s best shot, but that’s the beauty of it. That’s why you play the game,” Godwin said. “We’re just trying to stay focused on our goals, stay locked in, and understand what it takes to be a champion. We know it’s going to be tough, but we’re ready for it.”

Off-Season Work

In addition to the team’s organized activities, Godwin has been putting in work on his own during the off-season. He’s been working on his explosiveness and route running, among other things, in an effort to improve his game.

“I’m just trying to fine-tune and get better at the things that I can,” said Godwin. “I’m working on my craft, working on my route running, working on my explosiveness. Just trying to get better every day so I can be the best version of myself.”

A Bright Future

Godwin’s future with the Bucs is bright. The 25-year-old wide receiver is set to become a free agent after this season, but he’s made it clear that he wants to stay in Tampa Bay for the long haul.

“I love being in Tampa,” said Godwin. “I love playing with these guys, playing for this coaching staff, and just being a part of this community. So, of course, I would love to be here long-term.”

The Bucs would be wise to keep Godwin around, as he’s been a crucial part of the team’s success thus far. His chemistry with Brady and his ability to make plays in clutch situations make him a valuable asset, both on and off the field.

Conclusion

Chris Godwin’s health and the Bucs’ quarterback situation are just a couple of the many storylines surrounding the team as they begin their journey to defend their Super Bowl title. Godwin’s talent and work ethic make him a player to watch this season, and his commitment to the team and the community make him a valuable asset both on and off the field. As the Bucs work to repeat as champions, Godwin will undoubtedly be a key piece of the puzzle.
