Casey Bishop releases single ‘Love Me, Leave Me’

Things to Do in Fort Myers, Cape Coral This Summer: Events, Attractions, and More

It’s Casey Bishop’s first time in a recording studio, and the “American Idol” semifinalist says she’s excited about the result: A new single coming out Friday.

“I am so lucky to be working with such a welcoming, incredibly talented producer,” Bishop told her 101,000 followers on Instagram this week. “Can’t wait for you guys to hear this song, thank you all so much for the love.”

The original pop song, “Love Me, Leave Me,” was recorded with two-time Grammy winner Ian Fitchuk, a songwriter and producer who’s worked with Kacey Musgraves, Little Big Town, Leon Bridges, Harry Styles, Maren Morris and more.

In case you missed it: Casey Bishop lands in ‘American Idol’s’ Top 5

Hometown concert?: Casey Bishop might not play in SWFL, after all. First she has to make the Top 3

The single was co-written by singer-songwriters Jessie Reyez (who’s written songs for Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris) and Chris Braide (Sia, Britney Spears, Lana Del Rey and Beyonce). It’s available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music and other platforms.

Bishop, 16, was unavailable for an interview this week due to a packed production schedule, an “American Idol” publicist said.

Bishop and the rest of the Top 4 singers all recorded original songs with well-known music producers. They’ll perform the songs live Sunday on “American Idol,” when they’re competing to make the show’s Top 3.

Fellow semifinalist Caleb Kennedy was booted from the competition this week after a controversial video surfaced on social media. The three-second video shows Kennedy sitting by someone who appears to be wearing a Ku Klux Klan hood. Kennedy, now 16, has said he was 12 at the time.

Now only four singers will perform Sunday, according to “Idol.” And there will be just one elimination instead of the planned two.

Seven songs were scheduled to be released Friday by “Idol’s” semifinalists, including ones recorded by eliminated singers Arthur Gunn and Hunter Metts, according to Billboard. It’s unclear if Kennedy’s song will still be released, however.

This will be the first time “Idol” contestants have recorded songs in the studio, performed them on the show and released them while the competition is still ongoing, according to Billboard.

Producer Fitchuk told Billboard this about working with Bishop in the recording studio: “That is such a fun experience … to feed off of that creativity and energy.”

The Estero teen seems to have loved the experience, as well.

“What an amazing opportunity,” Bishop wrote on Instagram. “This is all so new to me and i never knew i could love something so much.”

Bishop landed in the show’s Top 5 singers on May 9 after performing Coldplay’s “Paradise” and Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic.”

Casey Bishop sings on the April 12 episode of 'American Idol,' when she was chosen as a member of the Top 10.

For Sunday’s episode, Bishop and the rest of the Top 4 will be mentored by producer and singer-songwriter Finneas, brother to pop star Billie Eilish.

The show’s finale airs May 23.

“American Idol” airs at 8 p.m. Sundays. Learn more about the show at abc.com/shows/american-idol.
