LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Contractors working near Fort Myers High School hit a water main while drilling at Oak lane and Cortez Boulevard.

Public Work officials confirmed the main is about 8 inches, and it’s losing about 1,000 gallons a minute.

Crews said Lee Memorial Hospital and Fort Myers High School shouldn’t be impacted. They did say the line services a fire hydrant at the high school.

A boil advisory could be issued if people in the area have their water turned off, but it’s too early to tell, officials confirmed.

No other information was immediately available.
