Eagles sweep doubleheader with Dolphins

The Florida Gulf Coast University softball team swept its road doubleheader with Jacksonville on Friday, winning the first game 8-1 and the second game 8-0 in six innings.

Riley Randolph picked up the win for FGCU in game one, allowing one run on two hits and one walk, while striking out eight in seven innings of work.

FGCU scored five runs in the third, on a three-run home run by Louie Ross and a two-run home run by Chandler Middlebrook.

Tourtillott added a solo home run for the Eagles in the fourth and FGCU capped the win in the fifth, with an RBI single by Bri Innamorato.

Taylor Wade took the win for the Eagles in the game two, allowing two hits and two walks, while striking out one in 3 2/3 innings.

FGCU took a 1-0 lead in the first, with an RBI single by Ross.

The Eagles added two runs in the second, on an RBI double by Kelsey Huff and an RBI ground out by Makensie McAvoy.

FGCU kept the momentum going in the third, with Carissa Licata scoring a run and Natalie Lopez reaching on an error to bring home Innamorato.

The Eagles capped the victory with three runs in the sixth, on RBI doubles by Racquel Fournet, Brittany McGuire and Innamorato.

FGCU (12-5 Atlantic Sun Conference) looks to sweep the road series and win the A-Sun regular season title on Saturday at 1 p.m.
