Fire crews respond to hazmat incident near Cape Coral Hospital

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – The Cape Coral Fire Department responded to a hazardous materials incident near Cape Coral Hospital Friday morning.

According to the department, crews arrived at the industrial area next to the hospital around 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 4. The Cape Coral Police Department and Lee County EMS also assisted.

“The CCFD hazmat team was able to contain the leak, mitigate the hazard, and minimize the risk,” CCFD wrote on Facebook.

Those in the area evacuated safely, and no one was hurt.

“The dedicated professionals of the Cape Coral Fire Department hazardous materials response team are an asset to our growing city in mitigating these complex and dangerous situations,” Fire Chief Ryan W. Lamb said.
