Fort Myers man dies after crashing in woods near RSW

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Fort Myers man has been pronounced dead after crashing in the woods near Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) Friday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the 73-year-old man was driving east on Terminal Access Road towards Air Cargo Lane before veering off the road towards an open field.

The man traveled for approximately half a mile before entering the woods, FHP said.

According to the report, the man crashed in the woods and died at the scene.

This is an active investigation.
