TikTok was the most downloaded app in 2020 and has quickly charmed the world with its diverse potential for self-expression, according to AT&T.

But what makes TikTok stand out from other social media platforms is largely its ability to widely circulate music and give specific songs viral popularity.

AT&T experts gathered data to find out exactly which songs Americans searched for the most.

They found the song in highest demand in the U.S. was “Drivers License” by Olivia Rodrigo. In fact, it was #1 in 12 states. The song set the Spotify record for most streams in a day by a non-holiday song on January 11.

In Florida, “Money Trees” by Kendrick Lamar was the most popular. Lamar’s song also took the cake in Texas, California, Washington, and New Mexico.

“Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac was the song with the highest average search volume. Fleetwood Mac released “Dreams” in 1977, and the album topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart that year.

On average, American TikTok users spent 489.09 minutes (8.15 hours) per month on the app.
