COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A picture says a thousand words…

From sketches to final touches, Immokalee artist Martha Cantu has been working on the new welcome sign for several months. She went head to head against other artists three months ago winning a contest with her “Field of Dreams” painting proposal.

Cantu has lived in Immokalee her whole life. She believes residents are proud of their agriculture based heritage and hopes her welcome sign can represent what it means to live and thrive in Immokalee.

The artist started painting the sign Friday and hopes to finish up before the end of the year.
