LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Five deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office are receiving awards for saving the life of an inmate in October.

While on duty, Sergeant James Whitney, Deputy Jacquelin Sanchez, Deputy Joselyn De Capellan, Deputy Ivangela Rodriguez and Deputy Johnathan Villena responded to an unresponsive inmate.

The deputies quickly initiated life-saving measures. After several cycles of CPR and the use of a defibrillator, the inmate was revived and taken to the hospital.

All five deputies will be receiving the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Life Saving Award for their actions that day.
