Man killed after being hit by car while walking on US 41 in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A Colorado man was killed while trying to walk along US 41 near San Carlos Boulevard Wednesday night, officials said.

Around 9:20 p.m. the 48-year-old man was walking on the left lane of US 41 near the intersection when a driver in a sedan also in the left lane crashed into the man, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Colorado man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, described as a 26-year-old Lehigh Acres man, received minor injuries in the crash.

FHP is continuing to investigate.
