Marco police chief has texts reviewed after misuse of COVID vaccine registration

MARCO ISLAND, Fla.– Marco Island City Manager Mike McNees announced Police Chief Frazzano and Fire-Rescue Chief Byrne would be suspended for 30 days for misuse of the COVID-19 vaccine registration system on February 3.

McNees reopened the investigation on February 8 when he became aware of text messages between Frazzano and her husband.

He compared the information he found out during his interview with Frazzano to the texts to see if all the information lined up.

After reviewing the messages, McNees said he still believes Frazzano and her husband were both under the impression that the website would not go live until 2 pm.

In a text sent to her husband about 15 minutes before the site went live, Chief Frazzano told him he was registered. She said she spoke to the people who run the site and he was fine.

McNees confirmed she was referring to speaking with Fire Chief Byrne.

McNees he re-closed the investigation after looking over the texts. He did not find any additional wrongdoing.
