FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Fort Myers Fire Department responded to a massive fire at the Howard Johnson Hotel on US 41.
The roof of the hotel was seen engulfed in flames around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday night.
Firefighters with the Fort Myers Fire Department and South Trail Fire Department responded to the scene and found a fully involved room on the second floor, according to FMFD.
The hotel’s owner confirmed that they believe someone left an appliance on. One person who had become trapped in was brought down to safety by rescue crews.

No injuries were reported, firefighters said.
Fire crews quickly sounded the alarm and worked together to hose down the flames.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
