Missing swimmer found dead after search in Hurricane Bay

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – The swimmer reported missing after he didn’t return to his sailboat in Hurricane Bay has been found dead by crews searching of the coast of Fort Myers Beach.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirmed the swimmer was found dead after he was reported missing Wednesday evening near Fort Myers Beach.

The Coast Guard confirmed two males were swimming in Hurricane Bay in Lee County. One of them returned to the sailboat, while the other never came back.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office was assisting the Coast Guard’s Fort Myers Beach crews with helicopters in the area. FWC also confirmed they are responding to the search.
