More affordable housing options could be coming to Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — A big part of unincorporated Collier County may get a bunch of new multifamily dwelling units. Some of these properties will include affordable housing options.

Collier County Housing, Grant Development and Operations Manager, Jacob LaRow said the county continues to grow and these options are a way to keep families living within the community.

“They’ve identified a number of entities – the county and public schools – in terms of retention and recruitment,” LaRow said. “They’re finding difficulty in retaining key employees so they’ve identified that this is a need.”

For the multifamily units, there will be 303 units and 68 units will qualify as affordable housing. It could also have a commercial shopping center, and mini-warehouse self-storage.

This project will be on the east side of Collier Boulevard, North of Rattlesnake Hammock Road.

Commissioners will also discuss a residential planned unit development with 212 rental units, 48 of which will be affordable housing units and will be rent-restricted. This development will be off Rattlesnake Hammock Road, west of Carman Drive.
