North Fort Myers man killed in Lee County crash

Immokalee woman killed in crash on SR-29 in Collier County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A 78-year-old North Fort Myers man died in a crash on State Road 78 (Bayshore Road) in Lee County Wednesday night. 

An SUV was driving east on Bayshore Road and a pickup truck was stopped in the eastbound lanes of Bayshore Road, west of Washington Drive. 

The driver of the pickup truck, driven by the man, was standing outside his truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. 

The 31-year-old North Fort Myers woman driving the SUV smashed into the rear of the truck and the man. 

He was brought to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

The crash remains under investigation.
