CAPE CORAL, Fla.– Officials responded to a major crash in Cape Coral at Southeast 21st Avenue and Hancock Bridge Parkway on Thursday.
Both the east and westbound lanes were completely shut down. Neighbors said a couple riding a motorcycle collided into the front of a pickup truck that was sticking too far out from SE 21st Avenue.
The impact flung the man and woman onto opposite sides of the road along with a wheel from their green motorcycle, neighbors said.
“You could see the bike tumble down the road there. You could follow the oil slick there,” neighbor James Wolford said.
Heather Somaru witnessed the aftermath of the crash.
“You know that crashes happen more on the holidays but seeing it so close to home, it’s scary,” she said,
But to her, it’s not surprising.
“I think everyone needs to watch their speeding,” Somaru said.
Another car was spotted with damage as a result of the crash. The Cape Coral Police Department could not confirm details of the crash or the conditions of the people involved.
