FORT MYERS, Fla. – A Fort Myers train stopped in its tracks for a massive investigation, after a person was hit by a train along Seminole Street and New York Drive in Fort Myers.

As of Monday morning, Lee County deputies confirmed to NBC2 the person hit by the train will be okay.

On Sunday evening, the victim was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.

A witness said he was watching TV when he heard a loud horn from the train. He said he came outside and saw the scene when first responders rushed to the person.

“I ran out there and then the rescue squad from Tice fire was out there and that’s when I knew there was something wrong,” a witness said.

LCSO traffic and major crimes units are investigating what happened. No one on board had any injuries.

This is a developing story.
